In January 1857 Osprey sank at Hartlepool in the fairway of West Hartlepool. As she was an obstruction to shipping traffic her owners had her quickly raised but she sank again at the north of the outer harbour. Her cargo was removed & taken to the Graving Dock. She was raised again.
